100 days 100 galleries; Day 25: Galería Elvira González, Madrid Spain

Galería Elvira González opened in February 1994. Founded by Elvira González, owner and director of Galería Theo for 30 years, Galería Elvira González is focused in XXth and XXIst century art, with particular interest in European and American art of the latter half of the XXth century and the work of contemporary artists.

Carlos Fentanes (CF): Hello, I just passed by your gallery and I want just tell you that I like what I saw.
Well, I was not precisely passing by because I’m in the Canadian Prairies but I saw your Instagram account.
Something inside me pushed me to ask: How can I appreciate Abstract Art?
P.S. My mother’s best friend’s at elementary school was Elvira Gonzalez, she’s now 80 years old.

Galería Elvira González (GEG): Hello! Thanks for your message, In order to appreciate Abstract Art simply try to watch and see and see and see…
Greetings!
P.S. Your mother’s school was in Madrid. If it was so what was the name of the school?

CF: No, my mother is from Veracruz Mexico: It’s just a coincidence.
I made you this question about Abstract Art because what you post is much better that what you can regularly see on Instagram.

GEG: Thanks!

CF: Thank you for this brief but substantial conversation, it’s hard to find someone to have a conversation about art.

Here it is, that was easy, I break my record of words in a conversation with a gallery up to now. Did I talk about me? yes but nothing about my art, that was not mention here and it was not necessary, what I want it was to establish a conversation in order to place myself in their social interaction, maybe later I can talk with them again about another topic of art and if we feel engaged then we can go deep about other things maybe my art. It’s a slow process I feel like the little prince and the fox or should I say The Fox and the Little Prince?

“For me, you are only a little boy just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you have no need of me, either. For you I’m only a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, we’ll need each other. You’ll be the only boy in the world for me and I’ll be the only fox in the world for you.”

The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint Exupery

I have no need of the gallery and the gallery have no need of me, either. For them I’m only an artist like a hundred thousand other artists…
