100 days 100 galleries; Day 71: Forum Gallery, New York NY

Forum Gallery was founded in New York City in 1961 by Bella Fishko, as a gallery of American figurative art. Among the first artists represented were Raphael Soyer, Chaim Gross, David Levine and Gregory Gillespie. The gallery was a founding member of the Art Dealers Association of America in 1962. From inception, Forum Gallery’s contemporary exhibition program has been augmented by mounting curated, thematic exhibitions of historic importance, in keeping with the gallery’s focus on humanism.

Carlos Fentanes: I see that you mostly show realism. Are New Realism a reaction against AbEx as AbEx was in its moment a reaction against European schools?

The gallery didn’t answer.

This is a very difficult week, It is the starting of the new season after a long summer vacation, all the galleries are busy setting up their new shows and organizing the agenda for the whole year so it is very difficult to put attention on a silly question on Instagram while they’re juggling their new season. In part, I knew about this issue but anyways, I also have an schedule to fill up so I’, going to sent messages to galleries even this week knowing that it’s going to be almost impossible to get an answer in this week, maybe in two or three weeks everything is going to take it’s normal level again.
Besides all this, Forum Gallery does not presently accept artists’ submissions but it’s good to try and even when you failed there’s always something new you can learn.
